Meditation – The Power of 3 Deep Breaths

Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated. How long do you think you have to sit there in order to get the benefits of meditation? 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 20 minutes? With this technique, you can do it in one minute, or just about (depends how deep your deep breaths are). Before you start, you need to make sure your body is in an optimal breathing position. I like being on my knees, sitting back on my heels. You can also be standing, or sitting in a straight chair (no recliners please). Have your shoulders back in a strong, but comfortable posture. Breathing Method: For every breath, follow this basic flow Inhale through the nose. First, expand your stomach, then expand your chest Hold the breath for a count of 3 Exhale slowly through the nose. First, pushing the air out by contracting your stomach, then allowing your chest to relax Deep Breath One: Making Peace with the Past – This first breath is dedicated to the Past. Whether good or bad, the past is done. We can learn from it, appreciate it, or we can forget it, but either way, it’s done with. Living in the past is often responsible for slowing down our future, or preventing us from living in the present. If something bad happened, we dwell on it, let it occupy an important place in our mind and create a space of negative energy.
